Sunday, October 9, 2016   Today began Fire Prevention week. This year theme is reminding people that their smoke detectors should be replaced every 10 years. Check the back of your smoke detector to see the date it was manufactured, replace the smoke detector if it is over 10 years old.

Passing of Chief Emeritus

Friday, August 5, 2016  The Officers and Members of the Vauclain Fire Company are sadden to announce the loss of our longest standing member Pete Fizzano. Words cannot explain the greatness in which Pete has done for the Vauclain. Pete positivity impacted every imaginable aspect of the Fire Company and Community through his lifelong commitment to service. He has held numerous positions within the Fire Company including Chief and President. Pete will be truly missed and forever appreciated. Rest easy "Pop". 



First Due Fire

Monday, June 13, 2016  At 649pm the S.M. Vauclain Fire Company was dispatched to the 1200 block of Haverford Rd in the Crum Lynne section of Ridley Township for a Building Fire. Responding units arrived to find a gas fed fire on the exterior of an occupied apartment building. Crews insured all occupants were out and stopped the fire from intending into the interior of the apartments. PECO was notified. Crews were in service for about one hour. The following mutual aid companies responded; Leedom FC, Tinicum Twp. FC, Eddystone FC, Folsom FC, Prospect Park FC, Holmes FC and Ridley EMS. No injuries were reported. The Red Cross assisted in relocated 2 residents. FULL STORY AND PHOTO WILL FOLLOW!



Mock DUI Crash

Friday, May 13, 2016  On Wednesday members of the Fire Company participated in a Mock Crash at Ridley High School, simulating a fatal accident as a result of distracted/DUI Driving. The scene was sponsored by State Farm Insurance and Main Line Health. The audience for the Mock Crash was Ridley High School Seniors. Crews from Rescue 62 and Rescue 43 (Holmes FC) preformed the rescue operations, while Ambulance's 62 and 43 handled the patient care portion of the mock crash. Tac 18 (Folsom) set up a landing zone to land a Helicopter from JeffSTAT. Ridley Township Police and the Delaware County Medical Examiner's Office also played a huge part in the Mock Accident. Thank you to all who planned and made the scene a success. The S.M. Vauclain Fire Company wants to wish everyone especially the Ridley High School Seniors who attended this Mock Car Crash a safe Prom night.




Friday, April 1, 2016  FOR SALE: 2000 HD Spartan /Rescue1 tandem axle walk-in rescue. The truck has seating for 8 firefighters in the cab 7 pack seat. The truck is equipped with a 430HP Detroit, a 35kw PTO generator. The rescue also has a 12,000-pound front-end winch, deep compartments all around and a 9000-watt Wilburt light tower. There is a command center for multiple mobile radios also equipped with a workstation, camera tower and a telescoping camera tower. Training with Boeing

Monday, March 14, 2016  This morning wrapped up the final part of a 4 part familiarization training with the Boeing Fire Company. On three consecutive Tuesday nights Rescue 62 went to Boeing to meet with each individual platoons to show them our Rescue and its capabilities, On the first night, the C platoon welcomed our whole membership for a tour of their station and apparatus. Today, Vauclain Firefighters along with Tinicum Township Fire Company went to Boeing for a tour of the plant. This tour took about 3 hours to just cover some of the high hazards area of the facility. We finished up with come lunch cooked by Chef Garvin. Thank you to all those who came out or were involved in the planning.



Blizzard and Car Fire

Saturday, January 23, 2016  Our blizzard standby crew started the morning off with a car fire. Crews arrived at Morris Cir. and Haverford Rd. to find a vehicle's engine compartment involved. During the Blizzard we had a crew in the station for over 40 hours. This dedicated group took time out away from their families to insure we had adequate staffing in our station during the storm. We thank them for their time.

Monday, January 18, 2016  The Officers and Members of the Vauclain Fire Company would like to congratulate FF/EMT Kenny Hawkins on accepting a job as contract Firefighter/Dispatcher for the Navy. We wish Kenny the best of luck during his year deployment.
