First Due Working Fire

Saturday, January 2, 2016  On Saturday, January 2, 2016, our first fire call for 2016 was dispatched at 930PM. Ridley Township Police called in a house fire on the 1300 block of Holland Street. Engine 62 with a staffing of 5 arrived first to find a two story twin with fire showing from the second floor. The crew from Engine 62 put a line in service. The crew made a quick knock on a fire on the second floor. Engine 12's crew completed searches of the fire building. Engine 70's crew stretched a backup line to the fire building, another crew from 70 stretched to the exposure. Ladder 48 opened up the roof. RIT companies 08, and 43 were also on scene. The fire was placed under control shortly after 10pm. Crew remained on scene for about 2 hours as an investigation was complete. Two Civilians were transported to a local hospital for smoke inhalation.

Friday, January 1, 2016  The S.M Vauclain Fire Company would like to thank all the Officers and Members from 2015 for all your hard work and wish the new 2016 Officers Best of Luck this year. The Department responded to 190 Fire Calls in 2015. The top ten responders for 2015 were as followed: 1. Shawn Evans - 126 calls / 65% 2. Jacob Chmielowski - 96 calls / 50% 3. Richard Guerra - 89 calls / 46% 4. William Henderson - 83 calls / 43% 5. John Byrne - 69 calls / 36% 6. David Zeigler - 32 calls / 36%** 7. Eric Groy - 49 calls / 25% 8. Sam Driban - 48 calls / 25% 9. Kenny Hawkins - 38 calls / 20% 10. David Bennett - 33 calls / 17% Thank you to all of our top ten responders in 2015, we look forward to another successful and safe year.

   


 

Fiore "Chick" Peticca Retirement

Thursday, December 17, 2015  The Officers and Members of the S.M. Vauclain Fire Company would like to congratulate, Ridley Township First Ward Commissioner, Fiore "Chick" Peticca. Tonight was Chick's final Commissioners meeting before his retirement. Chick has served as our Commissioner for 32 years. We thank him for his time and service to our community and the Township of Ridley.

   


 

Santa is Coming!!

Thursday, December 17, 2015  The S.M. Vauclain Fire Company will be escorting Santa Claus around Crum Lynne and handing out candy canes this coming Saturday December 19th around 11am. This will be in conjuntion with American Legion FA Scott Post 777 and thier Childern Christmas which will begin at 1230pm at the Post.

   


 

Rush Hour Crash

Friday, December 11, 2015  Just before 5pm Rescue 62 and Squad 70 were dispatched to Industrial Highway and Stewart Avenue for an accident with injuries. Units arrived to find a two vehicle accident with two injuries. Crews from 62 and 70 secured the hazards, EMS transported 2 to the hospital.

     



 

Building Fire at Wendy's

Wednesday, December 9, 2015  Just after 11pm Engine 62 was dispatched to a commercial building fire. Chief 70 arrived and found a fire in the kitchen, extinguished by the suppression equipment. Chief 70 held the assignment to 1 and 1. Engine 62 went available.

   


 

Overturned Dump Truck

Tuesday, December 8, 2015  Around 2pm Rescue 62 and Squad 70 and the Medics were dispatched to I95N in the area of Stewart for an Accident. Crews arrived to find a dump truck on its side. The driver freed himself and was not injured. There was no other cars involved in the crash. The accident slowed traffic down for a few hours while crews cleaned up.

     



 

Early Morning Door Pop

Monday, November 9, 2015  This morning around 02:30 hours, Rescue 62 along with Leedom Fire Company and Medic Ridley 7 were dispatched to I-95 South underneath Stewart Ave for a Accident. Upon arriving, crews found a single vehicle crash with 1 patient. The vehicle was unstable, sitting on the concrete embankment underneath the overpass, the patient was still inside. Crews secured the vehicle so EMS could render care to the patient. Crews removed the driver side door to gain access and remove the Patient. Crews remained on location until around 05:00am. 

     



 

Assist 70 with Pole Fire

Wednesday, October 28, 2015  This evening Engine 62 responded to assist Company 70 with a pole on fire. Crews arrived to find an active fire on the pole. Crews stood by until Peco arrived and place the situation under control.
